Overview


BMO Capital Markets is one of the top Canadian investment banks and has a long history as part of Canada’s Big 6. Bank of Montreal, the parent company, has several divisions and operates as a full-service investment bank in Canada.


Notably, Bank of Montreal has agreed to acquire Bank of the West, a San Francisco-based retail and commercial bank, from French owner BNP Paribas for US$16.3B. After being announced in December 2021, the deal is likely to close later this year and will expand BMO’s presence in the U.S.
